Richard G. Larsen

Professional Experience Richard Larsen concentrates on all aspects of bankruptcy law and commercial litigation. He is a recognized and experienced practitioner representing the interests of individuals, financial institutions, businesses, debtors and creditors in Chapters 7, 11, 12 & 13 of the Bankruptcy Code. He also represents clients in non-bankruptcy workouts, collections, liquidations and other business disputes. For thirty-six years he has represented Chapter 7 Panel Trustees in contested bankruptcy litigation, including numerous trials in the bankruptcy court. Mr. Larsen successfully defended a business client in a bankruptcy appeal in the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. Geographically, Mr. Larsen’s practice includes all the courts in Northern Illinois, namely, DeKalb, Kane, McHenry, DuPage, Will, Kendall, LaSalle, Ogle, Lee, Winnebago, Cook and Boone. He has spent his career “riding the circuit” having appeared in virtually every Bankruptcy and State Court in Northern Illinois on a regular basis. Mr. Larsen is married and has three adult children. He enjoys golf and is an avid runner and participates in many local half-marathons and other races. Mr. Larsen completed his first full marathon (26.2 miles) in the Fox Valley Marathon September 22, 2019. Articles and Publications Mr. Larsen is a contributing author to the 2022 IICLE Business Bankruptcy Handbook and a winner of the 1990 Illinois State Bar Association Lincoln Award in legal writing. Recent News Attorney Larsen recently represented a local bank in an appeal before the 2nd District Court where his client was affirmed regarding a priority dispute between Mr. Larsen's client, a mortgage lender, and another lending institution claiming a citation lien. (BMO Harris vs. Contarino, et.al., 2017 Ill. App (2d) 160371 (2nd District 2017).​ Attorney Larsen has also recently confirmed the Chapter 11 cases of R-BOC Representatives, Inc. Case #17-28555 before the Northern District of Illinois. Attorney Larsen represented the debtor in R-BOC Representatives, Inc. case ​ Mr. Larsen confirmed a complex and contested individual Ch 11 case in Rockford (Bankr. N.D. IL. Western Div.)
